Poster of the Day 1/5/11: Dwight Howard on Ersan Ilyasova

Not exactly the product I was hoping for from an 11-game night, but it’s a poster nonetheless. I guess it wasn’t even exciting enough to get it’s own individual Youtube clip… refer to the :55 mark of the game recap…

At least it was a buzzer-beater, that makes it a little more interesting. I’ll just take this time to discuss some other dunk-related news. The lineup for the 2011 Slam Dunk Contest has been announced. It goes as follows: Javale McGee, Brandon Jennings, Serge Ibaka, and……… drum roll please…….. the one and only BLAKE GRIFFIN! I’m really happy to see Blake’s name on the list, but what’s with the rest of the field? Brandon Jennings is an interesting choice. He’s got ups, but he isn’t really known for his dunking. Javale McGee really can get up off the floor, but he’s so tall and long that I think it’ll be hard for him to impress the judges. He should probably avoid the freethrow line dunk. The selection of Serge Ibaka baffles me. He’s a solid athlete, but I’ve never seen him do anything that makes me feel like he belongs in the NBA dunk contest. Hopefully he’ll surprise us. Not that I really care what he does, I’ll just be watching for Blake Griffin anyway.
