1/6/11: Nuggets Lose To Kings… By 20.

Tyreke Evans, plantar fasciitis and all, put up 27/5/12 in a 20-point route of the slumping Nuggets.  Denver’s lost five of their last nine, including two in a row to the Clippers and Kings, who have a combined 19 wins… one fewer than the Nuggets have.  Rumor has it that Denver is still entertaining offers for Carmelo Anthony.  Too many more losses like this one and I have a feeling he might be packing up his suitcase.  I don’t think he wants to be there anyway, and if the team isn’t even beating inferior opponents consistently, forget about it.

Random Observations:

  • Highlight Recap: Two-game Thursday, nothing much for highlights… here’s NBA.com’s top five plays.  Since that’s about as entertaining as last year’s Hawks/Magic playoff series, here’s one of my favorite highlight compilations of all time.  You’re welcome.
  • Blown out by the Clippers and Kings on consecutive nights? Depressing.  What say you, Mr. Karl? “I’m really kind of blown away by our performance.”  Yup, it certainly did blow, that’s for sure.  Melo?  “Tonight was an embarrassing loss that’s all I have to say about it.”  He couldn’t have chosen a better word if he used his pocket thesaurus.  Denver turned the ball over 22 times and gave up 122 points to the league’s 23rd lowest scoring team…  that’s pretty much NBA for f@ckin’ embarassing.  Not only that, said 23rd ranked team was led by a dude who’s rolling on one wheel.  I feel like I should elaborate more because there’s only two games to talk about, but there’s really nothing more to say about this one.  When Denver lost by 31 to the Pacers early on, they bounced back and beat the Lakers.  History says you should put money on ‘em for Sunday’s game against the Hornets.
  • Kevin Durant scored 28 points as the Thunder defeated the still Dirk-less Mavs by four.  My main man DeShawn Stevenson continues to make it rain.  He knocked down four triples on his way to another 14 points… that’s 17 PPG over the last three.  On to stuff that people other than myself actually care about… well, looks like the Mavs lost because they sent OKC to the line 26 times, lost the battle of the offensive boards, and turned the ball over a few too many times.  That’s just based on the box score, I can’t really tell you exactly what happened because during 90% of this game I was busy going 1-7 in a rec league game.  It was one of those nights where all the shots felt like they were going to go in, but the only one that did was the one I thought would miss (because it was litterally a no-look reverse layup.  I’m basically Monta Ellis, except I’m 5’7, white, and slow).  I will say this for myself, though: my team had lost two in a row without me, and we won yesterday.  It could be a coincidence, but I prefer to consider myself an x-factor.  Oh, my men’s league game doesn’t interest you?  Alright then, Shawn Marion and his stupid ass squirrel-with-a-nut looking jumper (seriously, that’s what his shot reminds me of.  Next time you see a squirrel eating a nut, tell me that sh!t doesn’t look like Shawn Marion launching a three) scored 25 points in defeat.  Tyson Chandler pulled down 18 rebounds.  Speaking of Tyson Chandler, he has a pretty sick website.  Blake Griffin needs somethin’ like that.
  • Lionel Hollins has banned gambling on Grizzlies road trips as a result of the fight between Tony Allen and OJ Mayo.  If you didn’t catch the news about the confrontation, it happened just a few days ago.  OJ Mayo wouldn’t pay up, so TA smacked him.  The beef was over the same card game that had Gilbert Arenas threatening to burn a dude’s car.  Good decision by Coach Hollins.  A team with Zach Randolph and Tony Allen on it can’t be having any activities that could inspire thuggery.

Quote of the Day: Don’t think the Kings are any good?  Don’t try to tell that to Paul Westphal…

“We don’t believe we’re a bad team even if we have a bad record”

So what kind of team are you?  A good one?  LOL.
