Andrew Bogut Still Can’t Get A High Five

I can’t honestly claim to have met Andrew Bogut, but he seems like a fine Australian gentlemen.   With his endearing accent and charming wit, he comes across as the sort of fellow that would never be hard pressed to find a high five.  However, in 2008, it became evident that this is not the case.  Many of you probably recall Bogut’s comical reaction when his teammates failed to exchange customary high fives following a free throw, but if you don’t, watch it here…

As you can see, Charlie Villanueva (bottom left) gave Bogut the cold shoulder, Michael Redd (top left) wandered out of the picture, and Mo Williams (top right) just stood there next to Mike Bibby.  For a foul shooter not to receive a single high five (let alone three or four), especially after a make… that’s unheard of.  Clearly, something was up with the ’07/08 Milwaukee Bucks, or Andrew Bogut.

Four years later, Bogut finds himself in Golden State with a new group of teammates.  He made his debut last night in a victory over the Suns, so spirits amongst the Warriors ought to have been high.  Still, when Bogut reached from the bench and extended a congratulatory hand to Brandon Rush, he was left to slap at the air once again.  This time, he elected to high five himself.

At this point, one can only assume Andrew Bogut has exceptionally sweaty palms, or that his hands smell like onions, garlic, or something else that’s unpleasant.  There is no other logical explanation.
