Ed Davis was trending worldwide on Twitter yesterday afternoon. I read a variety of 140-character descriptions of a nasty dunk by Davis, one of which stated that he’d just thrown down over “like three” defenders. Considering the hype, I was surprised when it took a few hours for the play to pop up on Youtube. When it finally did… I was confused. This is the dunk that had Ed Davis trending worldwide? I thought about it for a moment and figured he must’ve thrown down a pair of poster dunks, the one I’d just seen being the inferior of the two. This morning, I checked Youtube again. I entered “Ed Davis” into the search bar and sorted the results by date. I clicked all of the recent uploads, but all I saw was the same dunk, over, and over, and over.
Not a bad dunk… not at all. A very nice dunk, as a matter of fact. But to get a Toronto Raptor trending worldwide? I thought I was about to see a dunk of the year candidate, not a dunk of the night candidate. I guess Raptor fans must run Twitter… Raptor fans who think Carlos Boozer plays such incredible defense that dunking over him equates to mashing on “like three” defenders.
Either that or there was a ridiculous dunk by Ed Davis that didn’t make it to Youtube.
