Games To Watch, Week Seven (12/6-12/12)

Monday, December 6th: Kings @ Clippers, 10:30 ET, CSCA FSPT

I’m recommending your weekly dose of Blake Griffin early this week due to tonight’s lack on intriguing matchups.  The Kings have been just as bad as the Clippers lately… actually, they’ve been worse.  Sacramento has dropped 13 of their last 14.  LA has lost just 11 of their last 14.  Looks like there’s no reason that this shouldn’t be a competetive game.  I imagine both teams will feel like they should actually win this one, meaning they should come out and play their asses off.  Back to Blake: he had 25/15 last time the Clipps played the Kings…  expect big things.

Tuesday, December 7th: Warriors @ Mavericks, 8:30 ET, CSBA FSSW

How about a rematch of 2007′s classic first round matchup on a night that doesn’t have much to offer?  Dallas is currently on a nine-game winning streak and Golden State is headed in the opposite direction… so why am I telling you to watch this?  Well, aside from all the other games looking pretty boring, the Warriors tend to entertain, even when they lose.  It’s pretty much guaranteed that at least a couple players will have big stat lines in this game.  Enter fantasy basketball mode and enjoy watching the numbers pile up.

Wednesday, December 8th: Nuggets @ Celtics, 7:00 ET, ESPN

Denver will likely come into this game on an eight-game winning streak (I’m assuming they can beat the Bobcats), and the Celtics will enter the game on a seven-game streak of their own.  It will be a matchup of explosive offense and lockdown defense.  The Nuggets have scored over 100 in all but one game of their streak, but will they be able to put up enough points to get a victory over a Celtics team that only allows 92 PPG to their opponents?  I’m actually interested to see how the benches fare against one another.  Al Harrington and Glen Davis have very different games, but can both put the ball in the basket.  Ty Lawson vs Nate Robinson should also be fun to watch.

Thursday, December 9th: Magic @ Blazers, 10:30 ET, TNT

If you have any hobbies other than watching the NBA, this would be a good night to change it up.  Here’s your other two choices: Boston @ Philly and New Jersey @ Dallas.  Why the NBA would choose to put the Sixers on TNT… I have no idea.  Hopefully Inside The NBA delivers with a good show, because the chances of any of these games being worth your time are slim.

Friday, December 10th: Magic @ Jazz, 9:00 ET, FSFL FSUT

Yup, I’m rolling with Orlando twice in a row.  If you actually choose to watch the NBA on Thursday you’re doing so at your own risk.  Anyway, Orlando and Utah have two of the top 10 defenses in the league based on opponent PPG and FG%, so expect a battle.  Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson are one of the league’s better PF/C combos, and could give Dwight Howard some trouble.  Jefferson is a crafty scorer in the post, so Dwight will have to be careful to stay out of foul trouble.  Millsap is a scrapper who will be after every rebound, but he’ll have to leave the paint to chase Rashard Lewis around the three-point arc.

Saturday, December 11th: Grizzlies @ Clippers, 3:30 ET, SS FSPT

How about a double dose of Blake Griffin this week?  Three of my favorite players to watch under the age of 25 will be involved: Griffin, Gay, and Gordon.  Looks like a recipe for some high-flying action on a Saturday afternoon.  Below the rim you will find Zach Randolph, who will have a desire to gobble up rebounds like Pac Man gobbles up dots against one of his former teams.  This game oozes entertainment value.

Sunday, December 12th: Nuggets @ Knicks, Noon ET, ALT MSG

Nothing like a run-and-gun special to start your day off right!  The Knicks have become a respectable team over the past couple weeks.  They’re currently 12-9 and have come away from nine of their last ten games with a victory.  I feel like I can now put the Knicks on this list without having to take a paragraph or two to justify my decision.  Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the whole Melo story line.  This will be Anthony’s final chance this season to show off for the team that I feel like he wants to play for.  Expect reporters to pelt him with questions about his future, but don’t expect any interesting quotes.  Melo’s been sticking to the whole “just focused on this season” thing.
