Watch The Bucks & Pistons Make NBA History In Less Than Three Minutes

There’s nothing quite like being a live witness as two teams knock down an NBA-record 41 free throws without a single miss, but hey, if you do it this way you won’t be forced to sit through an entire Bucks/Pistons game!  Watch the video below to see all 41 of the historical free throws from Detroit’s 93-102 loss to Milwaukee in just 2 minutes and 35 seconds, and enjoy the soothing sounds of none other than the great Nasir Jones as you do so…

For the Pistons, who were responsible for 24 of the tosses, Greg Monroe went 8 for 8, Rodney Stuckey 7 for 7, Brandon Knight 4 for 4, Ben Gordon 3 for 3, and Damien Wilkins 2 for 2.  For the Bucks, Brandon Jennings made 6 of 6, Stephen Jackson 4 of 4, Jon Leuer 3 of 3, Andrew Bogut 2 of 2, and Ersan Ilyasova 2 of 2.  Yup, that’s 41 of 41 alright!

This was just the second game in the shot clock era that finished without a missed free throw.  In the other game–a match up between Atlanta and Toronto in December of 2000–there were only 16 attempts, though, so this type of shooting is essentially unheard of.  Kind of like Dwight Howard attempting an NBA-regular-season-record 39 free throws by himself in an Orlando win over Golden State.  Had Howard been a part of this Bucks game he probably would’ve scored 63 last night.  Oh well, he and my fantasy opponent will have to settle for a meager 45.

Fun Fact: Howard’s record topped Wilt Chamberlain, who once took 34 FTs in a game waaay back in the day.  It only ties a playoff record set by Shaquille O’Neal in the 2000 NBA Finals, though.  Shaq made 18 of his 39 while Dwight connected on 21.  Warriors coach Mark Jackson, who employed the “hack-a-Shaq” on Superman Jr throughout last night’s loss, was an Indiana Pacer when Shaq took his 39 freebies.  He should’ve known it wasn’t gonna work.

It should also be noted that Greg Monroe went for 32 and 16 in that Bucks/Pistons game.  That’s actually a bigger story than the free throws, but it isn’t NBA history, so…
