Bynum’s Knee Injury Not Serious

Laker Nation, you can breath a massive sigh of relief, because Andrew Bynum’s MRI revealed nothing but a minor bone bruise.  Via ESPN Los Angeles…

An MRI Wednesday revealed nothing more than a bone bruise for Andrew Bynum, who left Tuesday’s win over the Spurs at Staples after hyperextending his knee in the second quarter. According to a statement released by the Lakers, “the injury is not deemed to be serious,” and Bynum is expected to be available when the playoffs kick off (almost surely, if history is a guide) Sunday. He’ll likely take it easy over the next few days, but probably would have, anyway. On the one hand, the news allows Lakers fans to feel far more confident about the team’s threepeat chances, seriously undermined had Bynum’s injury been more serious.

I think I speak for all respectable NBA enthusiasts when I say that I’m very happy that Bynum’s injury won’t compromise LA’s chance at a three-peat.  I’m not exactly rooting for the Lakers, but I certainly wouldn’t want to see them go down like that.  I want to see if somebody can knock them off at full stength.  Hopefully they choke this game to the Kings tonight so they’ll have to see Portland in the first round.  I’m convinced that that could be extremely interesting.  Sacto is currently down three with 4:15 left in the first.  Keep your fingers crossed.  Goddammit, Samuel Dalembert… dumby just set an illegal screen.  C’mon Queens!
