Fantasy News & Notes, Week 19

The weekly fantasy studs & duds post will be replaced by a fantasy news & notes post starting this week.  Fantasy studs & duds took hours to write, no one ever mentioned it as one of the better aspects of the blog, and I couldn’t stand doing it.  I think these new recap posts will be just as informative but much less grueling to construct.  If anyone really loved studs & duds, please leave a comment and let me know… but I don’t think anyone did.

All of the information is still based on nine categories (FG%/FT%/3PT/PTS/REB/AST/STL/BLK/TO) and head to head format.

Top Ranked Players (averages, minimum three games played):

  1. Al Jefferson, UTA, 3 games: 24.7/12/2/52.4% FG/80% FT/0 3s/0.7 STL/3.3 BLK/1.3 TO
  2. Brook Lopez, NJN, 3 games: 29/8.7/2.3/57.8% FG/81.3% FT/0 3s/0 STL/3.7 BLK/2 TO
  3. Kevin Durant, OKC, 3 games: 22.7/6.3/3.3/43.5% FG/95.7% FT/2 3s/1.7 STL/1 BLK/1.7 TO
  4. Kyle Lowry, HOU, 3 games: 21/3.7/9.3/51.1% FG/66.7% FT/3 3s/2 STL/0.7 BLK/2 TO
  5. Ray Allen, BOS, 4 games: 21/2.3/2.3/55.6% FG/88.9% FT/4 3s/1.8 STL/0 BLK/1.3 TO
  6. Andre Iguodala, PHI, 3 games: 17.3/9.3/9/45% FG/81.3% FT/1 3s/2.3 STL/0.7 BLK/2.3 TO
  7. Kevin Garnett, BOS, 4 games: 16.5/10.5/2.8/61.7% FG/100% FT/0 3s/1.5 STL/1 BLK/1.8 TO
  8. Paul Pierce, BOS, 4 games: 21.8/8/3.3/58.7% FG/93.5% FT/1 3s/1 STL/0.5 BLK/2.8 TO
  9. James Harden, OKC, 3 games: 21/2.7/2.3/50% FG/94.4% FT/1.3 3s/1.3 STL/0.7 BLK/0.3 TO
  10. Blake Griffin, LAC, 3 games: 21.7/12.7/6/51.3% FG/86.2% FT/0 3s/1.3 STL/0.3 BLK/2.7 TO

Potential Adds:

  • Marcus Thornton, SAC: Someone is likely way ahead of you here (62% owned in Yahoo! leagues), but if you’re playing in a 10-team league with a bunch of football fans then he’s probably worth checking for.  Thornton is putting up over 20 PPG since joining Sacramento.
  • Wesley Johnson, MIN: The rookie has quietly made strides since the All-Star break.  Wes has put up 14/5 with more than solid steals, blocks, and threes in his last six games.  He’s missed a couple contests with the flu, but he should be back soon.
  • Jarrett Jack, NOH: As far as I know Chris Paul is going to miss at least one more game with his concussion, so if you need a very temporary PG you could add Jack.  He started tonight’s game against Chicago and has 14 points at the end of the third.
  • Jodie Meeks, PHI: Cheap source of threes and points who continues to fly under the radar even though he’s getting more playing time these days.  Meeks has played 30 minutes or more three games in a row and scored in double figures four games in a row.  He’s hitting two threes a night over Philly’s last 15, and he’s only 8% owned in Yahoo! leagues.
  • Anthony Randolph, MIN: Potential… you gotta love it.  Anthony has teased fantasy owners in his four games with the T-Wolves.  He’s scored in double figures twice and recorded a double-double once, but he’s also thrown in two stinkers.  Take a chance on him if you have an empty space; he’ll probably get more and more minutes as the season winds down.
  • Courtney Lee, HOU: There is more time for Courtney now that Shane Battier is out of town.  He’s averaging 13.7 PPG and 1.7 3PG on over 50% FG in Houston’s last three games… and he’s only 10 percent owned in Yahoo! leagues.
  • Kirk Hinrich, ATL: He’s getting plenty of minutes (over 30 a game) and taking advantage so far in his new home.  Kirk is doing 13 PPG and 2.6 3PG in three games since joining the Hawks.  He’s 52 percent owned in Yahoo! leagues, so he might be available in a deeper league, like 14-16 teams.
