And Your 2011 All-Star Reserves Are…

WEST

G: Russell Westbrook (First All-Star selection)
G: Deron Williams
G: Manu Ginobili
F: Blake Griffin
(First All-Star selection)
F: Tim Duncan
F: Dirk Nowitzki
C: Pau Gasol

EAST

G: Rajon Rondo
G: Ray Allen
G: Joe Johnson
F: Paul Pierce
F: Kevin Garnett
F: Chris Bosh
C: Al Horford

Players who made my list but were not voted in:

  • Kevin Love: I think we can all agree that he got completely shafted.  Tim Duncan making it this season is nothing but a lifetime acheivement award.  Hopefully David Stern will come through and make Love Yao’s injury replacement.  I think the comissioner will get this one right.  I can’t imagine a player averaging over 20 points and 15 boards a game and not making the All-Star team.
  • LaMarcus Aldridge: I don’t feel that his arguement is nearly as strong as Kevin Love’s, but he’s a guy who I really wish they could’ve made room for.  His quiet start to the season likely cost him a lot of votes.
  • Carlos Boozer: The number one snub in the East.  I don’t see how Bosh makes it and Boozer doesn’t.  Yeah, Boozer missed some time at the start of the season, but he’s played in 30 games, and in those 30 games he’s played better than Bosh has in his 44 games.  I think 30 games is a large enough sample size that Boozer should go unpunished.  Hell, Bosh may as well have played in just 30 games himself… Chris didn’t even show up until like three weeks into the season.
  • Raymond Felton: Ray lost out to Rajon Rondo, as I expected he would.  I think I’m the only NBA writer (can I call myself that, or do I need to be affiliated with some fancy media outlet?) who didn’t have Rondo on the team, so maybe it’s me.

Well, there you have it!  The All-Star Game will be played on Febuary 20th in Los Angeles.  My prediction for MVP?  F@ck it, I’m going with the hometown hero!  No, not Kobe, you boneheads… Blake Griffin!  I guess it’s more wishful thinking than a prediction, but whatever.

One more note on the ASG and I refuse to talk about it again until it actually happens.  Apparently the NBA will allow players the option of wearing a skin-tight jersey.  Can’t imagine exactly what that would look like?  Derrick Rose is modeling one for you…

Yeah, I know, it’s not a good look.  When I first saw a jersey like this a few years ago, I remember hoping they’d never make it to the NBA…. but I knew they would eventually.  Now I’m going to hope these don’t ever become an actual regular-season uniform style.  I’m sure they probably will.

My question is, who the f@ck thinks it’s a good idea to keep changing sh!t all the time?  I go by this wonderful saying, it goes like this: if it ain’t broke, don’t f@cking fix it!  What’s wrong with a regular ol’ mesh jersey with round arm and neck holes?  Why do they have to do all this v-neck, super-tight, WNBA-lookin’ sh!t?  I can’t stand it.  Please stop.
