Jamaal Tinsley Gets His Rucker Park On vs Wizards, Lakers

Jamaal Tinsley does not have the type of freakish physical ability that is commonly referred to as “NBA athleticism.”  He didn’t have it when he was young and he certainly doesn’t have it now that he’s 34.  What Jamaal Tinsley has is skills.  The type of skills that earned him a nickname at New York City’s famed Holcombe Rucker Park.  To earn any nickname at the Rucker is essentially to be canonized.  Tinsley was dubbed “The Abuser.”  You think maybe this guy can handle a basketball?  You have no idea.

On Wednesday, Tinsley scored 11 points and dished 5 assists in a 92-88 victory over the suddenly-decent Wizards.  I provided a sampling of his work in my game notes posted early Thursday morning, but there was much, much more dribbling magic to behold.  It’s quite typical of Jamaal to get tricky once or twice a game, but he was in rare “Abuser” form in that game against Washington.  Take a look at his highlight reel…

Pour out some liquor for AJ Price, because The Abuser beat that man to death.

On Friday, Tinsley was right back at it again.  He didn’t have the complete game he had against the Wizards (the Jazz got crushed by the Lakers), but this was a nice little encore nonetheless…

Tinsley and the Jazz will be in Indiana (correction: it’s a Utah home game) to play the Pacers on Saturday.  Jamaal was a Pacer for the first seven seasons of his career, but was essentially banished from the team about five years ago.  Could The Abuser be out for revenge?  If so, I fear for George Hill.
