Sometimes, when I see JR Smith dunk, I wonder why he doesn’t do so as often as he used to. Then it hits me: JR Smith is a nine-year NBA veteran. It doesn’t seem like it’s been nearly that long since the New Orleans Hornets plucked him straight out of high school, and he doesn’t always conduct himself like elder statesman, but it has indeed been almost a decade since he cashed his first check. At 27, JR still figures to be years away from a major decline in athleticism, but he has moved on from that youthful stage in his career when he simply wanted to smash on everybody. I miss that stage.
And now I feel old.
Dunk rating on the Starbury Nastiness Scale:
7.5/10
Throwback Poster of the Day: Here’s to hoping that Dirk Nowitzki can get back to playing like his old self again…
What makes that dunk even better is the fact that Stiemsma rejected a J.R. dunk attempt the previous possession. That poster was just revenge.
