Terrence Williams Throws Down Three Big Dunks In China

Have you ever wondered what happened to Terrence Williams?  The former lottery pick of the Nets hasn’t appeared on the NBA scene since being cut by the Pistons during the preseason, and that kind of surprises me.  Williams had a pretty successful run with Sacramento at the end of last season, and by all accounts he actually stayed out of trouble.  I figured the Kings might bring Williams back in ’12/13, but with a roster full of wing players they elected not to.  That makes sense enough, but the fact that Terrence fielded no guaranteed contract offers from any other NBA suitors speaks volumes about just how bad his reputation has become.  Most 25-year-olds with his talent and draft history can still secure a deal on perceived potential alone.  Instead, T-Will was forced overseas.  He currently plays in China for the Guangdong Southern Tigers, where he’s teammates with former NBAers Ike Diogu and Yi Jianlian.  In Sunday’s game against Bayi, Williams hammered down three of his signature right-handed jams…

I’d say the Bayi Rockets need to learn how to shut off the baseline.  Williams finished with 15 points in game, which Guangdong won easily.  At 7-2, they’re currently tied for second in the standings.  The Southern Tigers have appeared in nine consecutive CBA Finals, and with talent like Williams, Yi, and Diogu, they figure to be headed in that direction once again.

CBA Notes: Stephon Marbury and Gary Forbes faced off this morning, and the two combined to score 85 points (43 for Steph, 42 for Gary).  Marbury’s Beijing Ducks defeated Forbes’ Guangsha Lions.  Tracy McGrady’s Qingdao Eagles remain 0-9 as they had a bye this round.  Eddy Curry had 31 points and 13 rebounds in a win.
