JaVale McGee Catches Zach Randolph’s Jump Shot

JaVale McGee blocked a whole lot of Grizzly shots — four of ‘em, to be specific — in Denver’s 99-94 victory over Memphis on Friday night.  They were all pretty spectacular, but there was one that… well, I don’t want to say it stood out, because that would simply be an understatement.  This particular block was profoundly different from the others.  Not just the others that McGee had in this game, but the others, like, ever.  Let me assure you, I’ve watched an unhealthy amount NBA basketball over the course of my 24 years on this earth, and I can’t honestly say with 100% certainty that I’d ever seen anything exactly like this before.  Take a look.

Your eyes do not deceive you, basketball fan.  This man JaVale McGee just caught Zach Randolph’s jump shot.  Literally caught it.  I’ve seen guys catch layups before — Kenyon Martin used to do it all the time — but a Zach Randolph jumper?  Z-Bo’s known to put a lot of air under that shot, and the ball is already about eight or nine feet in the air at its point of release.  Still, this dude JaVale just went up and snatched it from a standstill, like it was nothin’.

Props to the refs for not calling a goaltend.
