POTD 11/11/12: Ron Artest Alley-Oops On Francisco Garcia

More than anything else, the following play is a testament to Kobe Bryant’s passing ability.  While his role in the play may appear to be elementary, I’d argue that a lob to Ron Artest is actually one of the most difficult passes in the game.  You’ve got to basically put the ball on the very edge of the cylinder in order for Ron to have a shot at it, so there’s no room for error when it comes to accuracy, and the timing also has to be flawless.  In all honesty, I don’t even believe Kobe thought Ron could field this pass — he just threw it anyway.  It’s the Kings, so what the hell, right?  Watch how excited he gets when it actually works…

Honorable mention to Monta Ellis, who caught an Iverson-on-Camby-esque putback over his own teammate, Ersan Ilyasova.
