Kevin Garnett Leaves Game With Leg Injury.

It’s being called a “lower leg injury”, but it certainly appeared to be a non-contact injury to the same right knee he had surgically repaired in 2009.

The Associated Press reports:

“AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) — Kevin Garnett has left Boston’s game at Detroit with a right leg injury.Garnett grimaced as he threw down a dunk late in the first quarter, then immediately started limping when he landed, favoring his right leg. He made it back to midcourt before intentionally committing a foul to stop the game. He was able to hobble off the court but was limping badly by the time he got back to the locker room. He was taken for X-rays and is not expected to return to the game.

Garnett had surgery on his right knee in May 2009 after missing all of that year’s playoffs.”

 Link.

This is obviously scary news for the Celtics and their fans, especially seeing as it looks like it’s that same right knee that kept Garnett out of the ’09 playoffs.  Even though he played last season, I didn’t really think he looked right, but this season he was really looking great.  This could be a major setback for the number one team in the Eastern Conference.  Some of Garnett’s antics have pissed me off as much as the next man, but I sincerely hope he’s alright.  I hate to see anyone go down with an injury, and then you tack on the fact that this could potentially wipe out a championship contender and it’s just depressing news.
