Kyrie Irving Crosses Defender, Hits Tristan Thompson For The Slam [VIDEO]

You reach, guy with the funny hair, and Kyrie Irving will teach!  As for Tristan Thompson, he’ll be sure to finish the highlight by throwing down with the utmost authority.

Considering Irving’s incredible ability to break defenders down, I can totally see he and Tristan Thompson becoming one of the most exciting guard-forward combos in the league.  More importantly, I can also recognize an effective pick-and-roll when I see one.  Alongside Irving, it stands to figure that Thompson will be doing quite a bit of dunking… something he happens to be particularly adept at.  Despite starting in fewer than half of the 60 games he played as a rookie, Tristan managed to finish in a three-way tie for 19th in slam dunks (66).  Of all players who came off the bench for the majority of their games, only Derrick Favors (68) can boast a higher total.

The young Cavaliers most certainly have work to do yet, but I think it’s safe to say that they’re coming along much faster than anyone expected.
