To add to the embarrassment of passing the 9-win (.110) Philadelphia 76ers of 1972/73, their final loss, which came by 20 points at the hands of the Knicks, was nationally televised. As you can see, the frustration of Coach Silas reached its peak around the 16th of April. He had been involved in a locker-room shouting/shoving match with Tyrus Thomas on the previous night, and the ensuing loss to the New Orleans Hornets, a team Silas may have thought his team could compete with, left him in a state of such dismay that the traditional facepalm wasn’t even enough. He resorted to the seldom-seen paperface–the ultimate indicator of an epic fail. When the season wrapped up on Thursday night, Silas no longer had the will to force anything to his face. He simply bowed his head and waited for the end. You were wise not to watch, Paul; your team bricked 12 free throws.
The Bobcats lost their last 23 games by a total of 357 points for an average margin of -15.52. Their average margin on the season wasn’t much better at -13.9. No team scored fewer points (87 per game), and only three teams allowed more (100.9). The ‘Cats ranked dead last in a bunch of other categories as well, including opponent points in the paint (48.3), opponent shooting percentage (51.7%), shooting percentage (45.5%), and both offensive and defensive efficiency.
While the Knicks didn’t allow the Bobcats to dodge infamy at their expense, they are one of the seven teams Charlotte beat this year, and one of the three they beat on the road. Their company? Toronto and New Orleans. Also, New York is the only playoff club that was beaten by the worst team ever. They may improved, but they’re still the Knicks.

That’s great. I feel bad for the guy, he’s given a truckload of kids to play in a mans game and the results are what you would expect. How he kept it together all season is the amazing part. Good news, lots of ping pong balls to go get some more kids!
