There are two bits of news here. Firstly, Amare Stoudemire is out indefinitely with a bulging disc. Secondly, MSG’s Al Trautwig pulled a Charlotte Observer as he attempted to report the news of said bulging disc. Predictably, he slipped up and said “d!ck.” Then he made it worse by abruptly correcting himself. Watch the video above for a good laugh.
On a more serious note, Amare Stoudemire had been playing much-improved basketball over the past couple weeks. With the Knicks in the midst of a tight playoff push, he’s gone gone down for an undetermined amount of time at the worst possible juncture. No one seems to know whether “indefinitely” means a week, two weeks, a month, or the rest of the season and postseason, but I have a funny feeling that a timetable would’ve been given if a return by the end of the regular season was certain.
Call it what you will… a bump in the road, an unfortunate turn of events, or a convenient excuse. In any case it’s certainly a development that fits right in with the Knicks’ roller coaster of a season.
