Poster of the Day 12/8/10: DeMarcus Cousins on Javale McGee.

DeMarcus Cousins edges out Michael Beasley with a dunk that’s probably the best highlight of his NBA career so far…

I went with the DeMarcus dunk because there was actually contact on the play.  Beasley took off from an impressive distance, but Nenad Krstic did nothing other than take a half-assed swipe at the ball so he could tell Scott Brooks “I tried”.  Seeing as Krstic isn’t exactly the pinnacle of athleticism and considering the fact that he blocks .5 shots a game as a starting center, he probably made the right decision, actually.  Had he put his body in front of Beasley it likely would’ve resulted in an and-one and severe humiliation.  As for the dunk by Cousins, well I give Javale McGee props for trying to get in the way.  DeMarcus weighs 270 pounds and had a running start to build up momentum.  Getting in the way of that is probably comparable to jumping out in front of a small Toyota or something.

Dunk rating on the Starbury Nastiness Scale:

7/10 Starbury Nasty Faces.

Throwback Poster of the Day: This dunks isn’t old and it isn’t even from the NBA, but I had to find a way to work it into this post somehow.  I saw this yesterday and I had to re-watch it like five or six times before I believed what I was seeing…

Filthy crossover, one dribble, explosion!  The play reminds me of this famous crossover+dunk combo by Vince Carter.
