DeMarcus Cousins Stops Playing Defense To Call A Travel On Brandon Bass

Give DeMarcus Cousins and the rest of the Sacramento Kings a lot of credit.  Cousins came up with 20 points and 7 boards as his team not only ended Boston’s two-game road winning streak, but beat them by a whopping 25 points in the process.  Still, even in one of their finest performances of the season, DMC and the Kings managed to show signs of their lottery status.  All game long–despite leading throughout–they pissed, moaned, whined, and pouted to the officials after every call (and every non-call).  Bill Walton didn’t much care for it, and neither did I.

As you’d probably expect, none other than DeMarcus Cousins was the leading complainer.  At one point (with the Kings up 15 in the third quarter) he actually stopped playing defense on Brandon Bass and tried to make a traveling call himself.  Keith Smart may want to let his young gun know that only people with whistles can stop the game.

Definitely a travel, but goddamn DeMarcus, you can’t allow a guy to beat the shot clock buzzer with an uncontested jumper just because he shuffled his feet.  If you must have your opinion known wait for the next dead ball, or until your team has the ball, or… just do pretty much anything other than what you did here!
