Paul George Caps Pacers Victory With A Spectacular Windmill

I pride myself on being a master of the remote control.  Over the seven seasons that I’ve had NBA League Pass, I’ve developed a quick trigger finger and an impeccable sense of timing.  Some can’t even stand to watch basketball with me because they can’t keep it all straight, but I have no such problems.  Hell, on most Friday nights I can be found making my rounds between three or four games at a time.  That’s just how I’ve always done it.

Tonight, as I practically wore out the previous channel button flipping back and forth between a Pacers/Hornets overtime battle and a Pistons/Cavs barnburner, I managed to catch Trevor Ariza’s game-tying jumper, Alonzo Gee’s go-ahead dunk, and the majority of Kyrie Irving’s 17 fourth-quarter points.  Yep, I was on top of my game, but I must admit… I got a little lucky, too.

I’m not even sure why, but I just so happened to switch back to that Pacers/Hornets game with about 30 seconds to play in OT.  I knew Indiana had run away with it, and I was probably thinking I had a different game on deck.  Good thing I didn’t, ’cause I was just in time…

…for the exclamation point!  A textbook windmill from none other than Paul George, who will compete in Saturday night’s slam dunk contest.  Speaking of the slam dunk contest, it looks like Iman Shumpert is out due to a sore knee.  While I hate to see anyone miss out on such an unforgettable opportunity due to an injury, this is good for the contest.  You may recall that Shumpert was to be assisted by Jeremy Lin, essentially assuring a victory due to the new fan vote that will be in effect.  The single-round, judge-less format still blows, obviously, but at least there’s no obvious favorite anymore.  Utah forward Jeremy Evans figures to replace Shumpert, by the way.  Let me assure you that that man can get up.
