POTD 1/19/12: CJ Miles Drops The Anvil On Lamar Odom

I was a big CJ Miles fan last night.  His 17 points weren’t enough to get the Jazz a victory, but they came up huge for the Tards (that’s my fantasy team).  I’m in a 14-team league full of knowledgable NBA folk, so the free agent pickings tend to be pretty slim.  Since Josh Howard (also a Tard) has been missing games I decided to roll with Miles, and I don’t regret it.  Miles actually managed to out-score his underachieving fantasy teammate, Dirk Nowitzki, magnifying the solid performance.  His driving slam dunk over Lamar Odom had my bench waving their towels vigorously…

Take me to the dance and kick up your heels?  I don’t know about all that, but this was an awesome dunk.  Notice how he kind of goes up like he’s gonna dunk it with the right hand but ends up smashing it with the left hand.  That added to the degree of difficulty because he jumped off the left foot.  There was a fair amount of contact with Odom as he dunked it, too.  I felt that this dunk was better than an 8, but not quite a 9… so the Starbury Scale comes with halves now.  Most dunks fall between 6 and 8, but there can be a pretty big difference between a pair of 7s.  I think this should make the dunk gradings more interesting.

Dunk rating on the Starbury Nastiness Scale:

8.5/10 Starbury Nasty Faces
