11/27/10: Dorell Wright For President.

A new baller has officially achieved “main man” status here at NBA247365.com.  My main man Dorell Wright set the net on fire with nine threes (GSW franchise record) on his way to a career-high 30 points.  Speaking of Dorell Wright, here’s a little fun fact for those of you who enjoy random NBA trivia: Dorell has a son named Devin Quentin Dwyane Wright.  So, what’s the deal with the two middle names?  Quentin Richardson and Dwyane Wade are his godfathers, duh.  Watch NBA League Pass games between the Warriors and T-Wolves and you learn cool shit like that.

Random Observations

  • Highlight Recap: First of all, watch Derrick Rose destroy the ankles of Tyreke Evans.  My reaction was similiar to that of James Johnson, shimmy shimmy ya!  Moving right along… Donte Greene tosses an oop to Samuel DalembertMichael Beasley denies a dunk attempt by Dorell WrightAndre Iguodala fastbreak throwdownDwight Howard putback slamTravis Outlaw driving dunkLou Williams sets up Marreese Speights for a dunkAlonzo Gee putback dunkKevin Love with an unusual one-handed shotDerrick Rose two-handed slammer.
  • My main man Dorell Wright had been ice cold from distance lately.  In the seven games leading up to last night’s contest he was 4-25 from deep.  He turned it all around against Minnesota, though, hitting nine of his twelve attempts from downtown on his way to 30 points.  There was more good news for Golden State: They got David Lee back and were able to snap their five-game losing streak.  David played limited minutes and looked a tad rusty, but at least the guy is back on the floor, his presence is vital.  Monta Ellis had a monster line with 26 points, 10 assists, and 7 steals.  Kevin Love had his fourth 20/20 game in the month of November, and Michael Beasley scored 28.  Darko’s streak of 20 point games has officially ended at three.
  • Jamal Crawford returned to his old stomping grounds and led the Hawks to a win over the Knicks.  Crawford came off the bench and scored 21 points.  Many of his buckets were important in building the lead and then holding the Knicks off down the stretch.  Five other Hawks also scored in double-figures… solid team effort.  Joe Johnson continues to be horrible, he went for 7 points on 3-15 from the floor.  Landry Fields had 15/11 for New York… the dude really racks up the boards for a shooting guard.  This was his fifth double-digit game on the boards, and his second in a row.
  • Miami was coming off a win over the Sixers, but they weren’t able to make it a streak in Dallas.  Once again, LeBron, Wade, and Bosh all had pretty productive nights.  Each of them scored at least 20 points and grabbed eight boards or more, but they also combined for 13 of Miami’s 14 turnovers and as a team the Heat were out-shot, out-rebounded, and out-assisted.  Tyson Chandler beasted on Miami’s weakened frontcourt with 14 points, 17 boards, and three blocks.  Chandler has been on a tear over the past three games, averaging 16.7 points and 14.3 boards.  Around the nine minute mark of the third quarter, LeBron James did something very subtle which was caught on video and had the internet buzzing.  Whether that bump was intentional or not, only LeBron knows for sure… but it certainly appeared to be.
  • Dwight Howard scored Orlando’s final six points (including the game winning basket) to lift the Magic over the John Wall-less Wizards.  Wall sat out with a bruised knee, yet Dwight and company were still barely able to escape from the Nation’s capital with a W.  That’s because Agent Zero Nine and Nick Young came to play..er..shoot.  The notorious gunners launched 38 shots and scored 52 of Washington’s 99 points.  Arenas had a shot to win it at the buzzer, but his running one-hander was too strong.  Quentin Richardson made four of seven threes and scored 20 for Orlando.  Dwight had 32/11.
  • Brandon Jennings hit six threes and poured in 32 points to lead his Bucks over the Bobcats.  Stephen Jackson was tossed about five minutes into the contest, but the Bobcats got some great production from their bench and were able to keep the game close.  Dominic McGuire had 13/15 and Shaun Livingston contributed 16 points on five of six from the field, and the Bobcats were within two points with under 10 seconds left.  Gerald Wallace drove hard to the basket, but fell hard and injured his left elbow.  He was unable to shoot his freethrows, so the Bucks were allowed to choose a Bobcat off the bench to do so.  You already know exactly who they chose.  Kwame actually did 50% better than I expected–he made one–but that obviously left the kittens a point short and they lost the game.  There’s no word yet on the severity of Crash’s elbow injury, but he’s going to be evaluated today.
  • The other games: Mo Williams scored 25 points and dished 12 assists to lift Cleveland over Memphis.  Kris Humphries collected 15 boards, but the Nets got smacked by the Sixers.  Jrue Holiday went for 20 points and 13 assists.  Chicago finished up their circus road trip with a win over Sacramento.  The Bulls went 4-3 on the trip, which is big, because they hadn’t had a winning circus trip since 1997.
  • Carlos Boozer will practice on Monday.  He claims to be 100% and ready for contact, and it seems that his return to game action will come some time soon.
  • Not long ago I mentioned how Terrence Williams needs to get his act together before he gets lost in the shuffle.  Well guess what… Terrence has just become the newest member of the Springfield Armor.  Apparently Avery Johnson became so upset at T-Will that he sent him to the D-League as punishment for his shennanigans.

Quote of the Day: Want to learn how to make post-game quotes just like Amare Stoudemire in just four simple steps?  I’m going to show you how…

Step 1, tell ‘em why you lost: “We had no energy from the start.”

Step 2, make an excuse: ”With these early games, sometimes it happens that way.”

Step 3, contradict yourself: “We can’t make excuses.”

Step 4, continue as if you never made an excuse: ”We have to be mentally ready for these early games and we were not.”

…and there you have it!
