11/25/10: Clippers Start A Winning Streak.

It was a two-game Thanksgiving night in the NBA, and I imagine most people were either too busy eating, sleeping, or watching football to pay attention to either of the two games that went down on TNT… but don’t worry NBA fans, I’ve got your backs.  While I’m on the topic of Thanksgiving, I’d like to give thanks to all the people who read this blog.  According to my hit counter there’s at least a few of you out there.  Thank you, readers!

Random Observations:

  • Highlight Recap: DeAndre Jordan putback dunkJavale McGee stuffs Josh SmithJosh Smith throws it downJosh Smith hammers a lefty alley-oopBlake Griffin cocks back and packs itAndray Blatche drives and dunksBlake Griffin makes a beasty move and dunks it hard.
  • Watch out NBA, the Clippers are on a winning streak!  Eric Gordon (28 points, six assists) and Blake Griffin (25 points, 15 boards) led the Sailboats to a blowout victory over the Suckramento Queens.  First of all, let me mention that Samuel Dalembert was able to make a basket for the first time in five games.  Way to go, Sammy!  Anyway, the Clipps turned the ball over 17 times, but they won the battle on the glass by a double-digit margin and shot 50.7% as a team.  Eric Gordon has been a beast in the month of November… in 11 games he’s averaging 25.9 PPG and has only scored less than 20 points one time.  Blake Griffin’s also been a monster lately (as if you didn’t already know that).  He’s doing 31 points and 14.3 boards over the last three games.  Blake’s almost got his season averages up to 20/10, he’s just an eighth of a point short.  It’s nice to see these big numbers translate into a few wins for this young Clipper squad, who’s current starting lineup is barely older than that of an average highschool varsity team.  Unfortunately, I’ve read that the lazy Baron Davis and the useless Chris Kaman could be back as soon as next week.  Kaman was playing like garbage before he went down, as was Davis, who doesn’t even appear to give a shit.  I’d prefer to see DeAndre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe continue to get minutes and develope their games.  The good news is that it probably won’t be long until Baron decides he doesn’t feel like playing anymore…  that’ll take care of him… but that damn Kaveman, something needs to be done to keep him off the floor.  Hopefully he gets traded.
  • Atlanta continues to do their thing, “their thing” being looking good against terrible teams.  The Hawks beat up on the Wiz 116-96 in a game where most starters sat out the final quarter.  ATL got 21 points on 8-16 out of Joe Johnson, who’s been in a month-long slump, in just 26 minutes of play.  JJ hadn’t scored 20 in five games.  Josh Smith had a typical Josh Smith game with 20/14/5 and a couple blocks and steals.  Al Horford notched 15 points and 13 boards.  John Wall had a forgettable performance, he scored 10 points on just 3-12 shooting with 7 assists and three turnovers.  Atlanta is still yet to beat a team with a winning record.  Their next game is Saturyday against a New York Knicks squad with a .500 record and a five-game winning streak.
  • Rarely used Grizzlies reserve center Hamed Haddadi has been charged with assault.  Check out his girlfriend’s last name… the damn thing is 21 letters long: Karbalaeinematmoeeney.  That’s a mouthful.
  • LeBron’s got a new logo.  Nike decided to keep the crown and the LJ, they just got rid of the 23.

Quote of the Day: John Wall wants the Wizards to be more serious…

“We get paid for this. This is our job, this is our dream. This is what we want to do. So we need to start acting like it and take it more serious.”

I love the attitude.  Wizards staff, don’t let that goofball Arenas anywhere near this dude.
