Tyreke Evans To Sign With Virtus Roma

Tyreke Evans has just become the latest NBA player to take his talents across the Atlantic.  He came to an agreement with Italian League club Virtus Roma this morning, and he’ll be officially signed by the end of the night.  From Sportando.net

Virtus Roma agreed to terms with Tyreke Evans for the season 2011-12 with an NBA out to exercise by the player when lockout ends. The contract, as announced by Acea Roma, will be signed in the night.

Evans spent his two NBA seasons with Sacramento Kings after being drafted with the 4th overall pick in 2009. At the end of his rookie year in NBA, Evans has been named Rookie of the Year averaging 20.1ppg, 5.3rpg and 5.8apg in 72 games.

As is the case with Brook Lopez Lamar Odom, who agreed to sign with with Besiktas today (Lopez was said to be signing with the Turkish team first, but it turned out to be Odom), Tyreke obviously won’t be going anywhere if tomorrow’s efforts to end the lockout don’t prove to be futile.  Based on what has happened the last few times we’ve been led to feel cautiously optimistic about the return of NBA basketball, I wouldn’t recommend getting your hopes up.

I’m curious to find out if all the rumors about Evans letting himself go and gaining a bunch of weight have any basis.

It’s almost funny, Most Americans are trying to figure out what bills to pay or if they can afford a gift at Christmas. Here are grown men playing a game and letting “GREED” get in thier way. At this point who cares where they go play. The NBA is terrible and the egos that the Super Stars have are crazy.

Wow you couldn’t be more right…I agree I can’t beleive this country this is sad. The country of brotherly love…they only care about themselves. It is us who work hard, we are the ones who allow the rich to stay rich we work in their companies and make them rich…yet we are wrong to want to enough to live comfortablely. Thank God I beleive God will have the last word…Thank you for your comment Have a Bless Day to you and yours

I miss the NBA and feel that somehow there is something much deeper to this story than meets the eye. Like typical Americans, many people are commenting on the story based on race, when this is an issue of economics. People are speaking out against the players, but never mind the insanely rich owners who dont want to submit even an inch.

  6. PJ Jones says:

After a life long fierce loyalty and love of the NBA, I too am totally disgusted with the inconsiderate and Sick GREED of the NBA stars. None of them merit making such preposterous amounts of money. They play a game… They all need to get a reality check and soon. The NBA was so much better when players played for the true love of the game and NOT for how much money they could rake the owners and fans over for.

  7. Joseph Rollins says:

What is with all you people? THE OWNERS LOCKED THE PLAYERS OUT!!!!! The players were ready to play, the owners were the ones who are the greediest selfish of all! There was no need for a lockout period. They shoudlve played and continued to negoiate period.

  8. Tony R. N. says:

Its crazy that everyone blames the players, this is about work, compensation and demand. The players should make what the market allows, its the American way, its capitalism in the classic sense. Sorry to see them go but if its a better opportunity, good bye

  9. Brian says:

I’ll vote against GREED with my wallet by not attending ANY NBA games this year.

  10. johnny says:

wow, it’s funny how the the “fans” are upset with the players and the owners about the money they are fighting over. Why do you care about how much somebody else is getting or not getting? When I order a pizza for $20 I don’t care if the owner get’s $19 and the person who made the pizza gets $1 or vice versa. I just want my damned pizza! And stop comparing your life to NBA or any pro athlete. Get over it, people don’t pay insane amounts of money to watch you do your job or ask for your autograph. JUST STOP IT WITH THE JEALOUSLY CAUSE THAT’S ALL IT IS!

  11. Kev says:

So he’s going to sign a 2 or 3 day contract?
