NBA Appreciation Day: Three Clean Dishes

It’s still Friday, so at NBA247365.COM it’s still NBA appreciation day!  I didn’t intend to post this so late, but I haven’t had a chance to sit down all day.  I’ve decided to take this opportunity to appreciate three unnecessarilly flashy passes, two of which you may have forgotten about.  I’ll begin with the most undescribable assist I’ve ever seen, courtesy of none other than Steve Nash…

I mean seriously, what do you call that?  A leaping, spinning, over-the-head, no-look dish?  I don’t think it would be possible to sum up the amazingness any more briefly.  I remember when I saw it for the first time… I had to watch it like three times just to figure out what the hell he did, then run it back five or six more times to let it sink in.  Crazy pass… but I think I like this one from Rod Strickland even better.  Refer to the final play of the following mix…

Actually, it would be worth your time to watch the entire video, because it’s all awesome, especially the part where he tools on the entire Golden State Warriors’ team.  That last pass though, man, that might be my favorite dish of all-time.  The degree of difficulty involved is off the chain, and it could only be pulled off in a such a specific situation… it doesn’t seem like something he would ever have planned or practiced beforehand.  The fact that the thought to pull it off came to his head so quickly is as impressive as the pass itself.  Antawn Jamison will forever be on my sh!t list for not attempting a throw down to finish it off.

Last (but damn sure not least), you’ve all seen it before, but I didn’t feel right submitting a post about flashy passes without including it…

Notice the Ruff Ryders t-shirt as the camera scans the crowd for fan reactions… I miss 2000.  Anyway, I ran to the YMCA as fast as I could after seeing this for the first time.  I’ve since learned how to do it, but I’ve hardly mastered it, and I’ve never been able to pull off a pretty one in a game.  J-Will really was somethin’ else… quite possibly the flashiest ball handler I’ve ever seen (with the exception of a few AND1 Mixtape dudes).  Speaking of the AND1 Mixtape Tour, I saw it on TV today!  It wasn’t called the AND1 Mixtape Tour, but it was all of the same guys.  I wish ESPN would bring that back… it was nice to have a little basketball programming in the summer time.

That’s all for this week.  Try not to break anything or nail any small children in the face while trying to learn that elbow pass.
