Games To Watch, Week 16 (2/7-2/13)

Monday, February 7th: Lakers @ Grizzlies, 8:00 ET, KCAL SS

Hopefully this matchup turns out to be less lopsided than it seems.  The Grizzlies and Lakers have nearly identical home and road records (16-7 and 16-8 respectively), and Memphis has won 8 of their last 10.  The Grizz are just a half game behind the Blazers for the 8th spot in the West, and they’ve quietly been playing some pretty good basketball lately.  Even if this turns out to be a lousy game, you can enjoy the talents of Rudy Gay, one of the league’s smoothest scorers.

Tuesday, February 8th: Clippers @ Magic, 7:00 ET, FSPT FSFL

Coming off a poor showing against Boston, I figure the Magic could roll in this one… but that doesn’t mean I’m not gonna tune in.  Blake Griffin and Dwight Howard?  That’s must-see TV as far as I’m concerned.  DeAndre Jordan is one of the few players in the league who can compete with Dwight Howard both physically and athletically.

Wednesday, February 9th: Clippers @ Knicks, 7:30 ET, NBATV

Another one that I’d consider must-see TV.  These are probably my two favorite teams to watch.  The Knicks frustrate the hell out of me because they could be so much better if they would even pretend to care about defending, but I’ve accepted them for what they are, and what they are is a fun team to watch.  Also, be on the look out for a possible Cleveland win on this night as they’ll be at home against Detroit.

Thursday, February 10th: Lakers @ Celtics, 8:00 ET, TNT

Last time, the Lakers self-destructed down the stretch.  I guaran-fricken-tee Kobe Bryant isn’t going to let that happen twice in one season against the guys in green.  If the Lakers start slipping, he’ll be gunning.  Hopefully it’ll be a good one.

Friday, February 11th: Clippers @ Cavaliers, 7:30 ET, FSPT FSOH

A road game in which the Clippers won’t struggle.  Yay!

Saturday, February 12th: Thunder @ Kings, 10:00 ET, FSOK CSCA

I’m not really feeling any of the choices on this particular night.  I went with the Thunder game because they’ve made a habit of making things interesting, no matter who they’re playing.  Seven of their last ten have been decided by 10 points or less, including a few OT thrillers.

Sunday, February 13th: Heat @ Celtics, 1:00 ET, ABC

I have indeed broken my own rule.  The Clippers play Toronto at six, but I just don’t feel right recommending a game involving two non-playoff squads over a matchup of the East’s top teams.  My real advice?  Watch both… it’s Sunday, the NFL’s no longer a factor, and you probably don’t have much to do anyway.
