The End

Years ago, as a teenaged high school student, I first pondered the idea of creating my own NBA website.  In 2010, three years after my graduation, I finally made it happen.  Since then, I’ve treated this endeavor like a full-time job.  I’ve been able to do so thanks in large part to my family, who’ve been so generous as to facilitate my nearly-expense-free existence.  This allows me to dedicate 100% of my time during the winter months to NBA basketball.  I do work plenty in the summertime, and I was actually punching a clock for a good portion of the first winter, but there’s no way I could’ve attacked this site the way I did for over two years had I been in a position where I had to work 40 or 50 hours a week year round.  Though my situation remains essentially the same in the sense that I’m not being forced to quit spending my days writing and get a real job, I’ve decided it’s time for me to make some changes.

For the foreseeable future, I no longer plan to update NBA247365.COM.  I apologize to those of you who love and support the site, but please understand what has always driven it —  an organic passion for the NBA.  I’ve blogged about the NBA because I’ve wanted to blog about the NBA, and that’s why NBA247365.COM has been worthwhile.  Unfortunately, the fuel that feeds the fire has begun to run dry, and without it the site will fail to live up to its own standard.  I refuse to allow that to happen.

I haven’t lost my passion for the game of basketball.  I’ll continue to watch games on TV, and I’ll actually be able to play the sport more than I was before.  I’ll still be on Twitter @NBA247OFFICIAL, and I’ll still be StroShow4 on many of the internet’s message boards.  The Poster of the Day will continue for the duration of the season, but it’ll take place within the forums of InsideHoops.com.  I’ll continue to pay the site’s bills so the archives will survive.  Maybe, eventually, I’ll return to blogging in some capacity.  However, it’s not like me to do something halfway; I do it or I don’t do it.  For the time being, I’ll be doing other things.

More than any other isolated moment, ^this was the one that inspired NBA247365.COM.  That dunk was put down on the 18th of January, 2004.  Today happens to be the 18th of February, 2013.  It’s been real.

Sorry to see the site go, I’ve been following this blog for quite a while and have really enjoyed it’s mix of highlights and informed yet fun style. You have a real talent for writing, and you shouldn’t let life get in the way of things you have a passion for.
I work a 9 to 5 but still find the time to regularly update several blogs for my various interests. The NBA is a fast changing environment and I appreciate it’s difficult to maintain regular updates. Perhaps you could even go down to a weekly update.

Hope to see further updates at some point in the future, if not, best of luck with your future endeavours and keep the passion alive.

    Nick

Damn. Thanks for the great reads and all the best to you. Hope you pick up on writing again in the future. You’re great at it. Best nba blog out there in my opinion.. You kept it real and we both digg the early 00′s, so I could often relate to you. Will miss the blog. Peace

I have really enojoyed your website for almost a year now and will miss your updates. You always do a great job at providing updates on the entire NBA, rather than just the top 5 teams, like most websites do. I hope you find what you are looking for. You are a very talented writer and should consider pursing it as a career. I have read other sports websites (Yahoo sports for example) and you blow those guys out of the water! I hope you re-consider your decision and come back. Keep it real bud.

When I saw the post title on my phone I tried to convince myself it meant something else. It’s the end of some basketball era, the end of gratuitous calls towards a certain superstar, ANYTHING but this. Your blog has been an absolute joy to read. The swag meter is hilarious. Your poster stats true to what makes the game so damn exciting. I can hardly bring myself to delete your bookmark from my bookmark bar. I’m probably not making any sense at this point because I’m actually at a loss for words.

But if this is the end, I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors. I’ve appreciated the fruits of your labor for a long time, and it would be selfish of me to send you nothing but gratitude.

    Godspeed

Sad to see the end. Now I have to find another NBA blog to follow everything. You’re welcome to contribute to my site any time you get the itch to write again, if you feel so passionately. You did a great job with this over the years, just know that it was worthwhile.

I’m sorry to hear of this news. I loved your website man. I canceled my SLAM subscription because your blog did such a great job of covering the NBA and you didn’t even have inside access, which is amazing. You have a good sense of humor and I thoroughly enjoyed your creative writing. Your NBA commentary will truly be missed by true NBA fans everywhere.

I truly respect what you’re doing and why you are doing it. I’ll still of course follow you on Twitter, and I look forward to more blogging from you in the future.

Your site was always a great read. Informative, yet entertaining. Comical, yet thoughtful. I encourage you to continue pursuing a career in sports writing. Your sense of humor and light-hearted approach to the game made basketball a lot of fun to read about. If you ever get hired as a contributor to a large sports column, I will support you no doubt.

It’s sad that this blog has come to an end, I’m really going to miss your view on the NBA. But I was you all the best with what ever you will do in the future and want to say Im thankful and appreciate all the hard work you have put in this blog. Its been a good run, best of luck mate!!

This sucks. Just found this site and I really like it.

    Best of luck to you.

  14. Sad to hear man. This was one of my favorite nba blogs for the the past two years. I still check it every other day. I really wish you’d continue it somehow.

That said, I’ll extend an open invitation to contribute to my site if you ever take up writing again. You can post whatever, at your leisure.

I’ll actually be looking for more writers soon. I totally understand the burden of updating a blog/keeping up with the NBA day in day out. It’s not easy. It takes a ton of time. Hopefully I can make it a few more years lol…..

Best of luck with whatever you pursue next.

You have my twitter and email so feel free to contact me.

  15. TRON says:

    Wow.

    Really hope you re-consider….

If you dont, let me be the first to say Thanks.

    Good Luck

I have been checking back daily hoping that you would have changed your mind. I now feel “out of the loop” when it comes to NBA related news. I will surely miss your blog, thanks for all the great articles!

  18. Jota says:

Been following your blog for the last 2 years (have it bookmarked, for crying out loud). You´re one hell of a writer. Consider working with that in the future.

Thanks for all the work and solid coverage.

  19. BK says:

This was a good site, you have talent. Even if upkeeping this can be difficult, I think you should find another way to keep the writing rolling. Maybe join another site or just find your own writers that you would blog with? just a thought.

  20. Sooo. I just learned that Ivan Johnson is going to China so my first thought was 247365.
Havent you thought about a comeback?
